Ugnayang Tubig at Kasayasayan (UTAK)

Design thinking activity with Maynilad at the Lego Center in Fort Santiago Manila.

Maynilad Water Academy (MWA) in partnership with Intramuros Administration held Ugnayang Tubig at Kasayasayan (UTAK) last September 2019. UTAK is a 3-day program for student leaders which aims to teach about the importance of knowing historical events link to different waterways in Manila and how students can help in preserving and conserving these waterways for the next generation. By knowing the past, students will understand the present issues and challenges, and they can better prepare for the future. The program was designed to complement the rehabilitation efforts in Manila Bay and Pasig river.

15 student leaders and 5 teachers from Manila Science High School, Manila High School, Tondo High School, V. Mapa High School, and C. Aquino High School participated in the program.

With Intramuros Administration, learning about the history of the water system in the Spanish period.

The program was also supported by Philippine Water Partnership (PWP), the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), Department of Tourism and DepEd Division of City Schools-Manila.
