On August 22, 2024, the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) Water Alliance and USAID brought together leaders from the business sector, civil society, and government to celebrate achievements and explore new opportunities in water security. Thanks to the Water Alliance, a collaborative effort led by the business community, water systems have been installed across the Philippines, providing safe drinking water to thousands of needy families.
Engr. Rodora N. Gamboa, Executive Director of Maynilad Water Academy, was a key panelist and shared insights on “Making the Business Case for Private Sector Participation in the GPH WSS Program Priorities.”
The event highlighted significant progress in corporate engagement in water resource management (WRM) and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services. It also tackled the challenges and opportunities for encouraging private sector investment in these areas, aligning with the strategic priorities of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). This alignment underscores the strategic direction of the discussions and the collective commitment to addressing water security.
