On August 15, 2024, Maynilad Water Academy (MWA) hosted a training session for 25 water districts across different regions from the Philippines at Chalet Hotel in Baguio City.

Titled “It All Starts Here! Training on Water Balance in Managing Your NRW,” the event was facilitated by experts from MWA and Maynilad NRW and focused on the critical issue of Non-Revenue Water (NRW) management. NRW, which includes water lost through leaks, theft, or metering inaccuracies, poses a significant challenge to water districts, affecting operational efficiency and sustainability.

This training aimed to equip water district professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to manage NRW effectively using the water balance approach. This method involves a comprehensive water input and output analysis, enabling districts to identify and mitigate losses more efficiently.

Participants engaged in hands-on activities and discussions, benefiting from the facilitators’ extensive experience and insights.

The event highlighted the importance of adopting innovative strategies to enhance water management and ensure a sustainable water supply. One participant remarked, “This training has provided us with essential tools and techniques to apply immediately to our operations. It’s a game-changer for our district.” The successful event marks a significant step forward in the Philippines’ quest for efficient water management. With the knowledge gained, the participating water districts are better equipped to tackle NRW challenges, paving the way for improved service delivery and resource conservation.
