National Irrigation Administration Personnel Participate in Technical Tour of Ipo Dam and La Mesa Treatment Plant

October 13, 2026

On 5-6 August 2026, fourteen personnel from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) participated in a technical tour of Ipo Dam and the La Mesa Treatment Plant (LMTP). The activity was designed to provide participants with an overview of water treatment operations and enhance their understanding of the interconnected systems that support water supply management.
The program began with a lecture on water treatment fundamentals, introducing participants to the key processes involved in producing safe and potable water.
As part of the technical tour, participants visited Ipo Dam, one of the key water sources supplying Metro Manila. The visit provided valuable insights into the role of dams and raw water conveyance systems in the overall water supply chain, as well as the importance of effective water resource management in ensuring long-term water security.
The participants also visited the La Mesa Treatment Plant, where they observed the various stages of the water treatment process and gained firsthand knowledge of facility operations, water quality management, and system reliability. The site visit enabled them to appreciate how raw water from the source is transformed into potable water for distribution to consumers.
By combining classroom discussions with field exposure, the activity provided an opportunity to deepen their understanding of water supply and treatment systems while exchanging perspectives on water resource and utility management. The technical tour underscored the importance of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning in advancing sustainable water management practices.
Through initiatives such as this, Maynilad Water Academy continues to promote professional development and sector-wide knowledge exchange, fostering stronger collaboration among water practitioners and institutions committed to sustainable and resilient water services.
