On 20 March 2026, sixty-five civil engineering students from Bicol State University, accompanied by their faculty members, participated in an educational tour of the La Mesa facilities as part of their continuing exposure to water resource management and utility operations.
The visit aimed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of Metro Manila’s water supply system, from water sourcing and treatment to distribution and delivery. The students gained valuable insights into the processes that ensure the provision of safe and reliable water services to millions of customers.
During the tour, the participants were introduced to key concepts in water treatment and distribution, allowing them to connect classroom theories with actual industry practices. The discussions also highlighted the importance of sustainable water management, infrastructure development, and operational excellence in addressing the growing water demands of urban communities.
The activity served as an opportunity for aspiring engineers to better appreciate the complexities of managing large-scale water systems and the critical role that water utilities play in public health, environmental stewardship, and economic development.
Through learning experiences such as these, Maynilad Water Academy continues to support the development of future water professionals by fostering greater awareness, knowledge-sharing, and engagement with the water sector.
